[Steve rises suddenly and immediately groans in discomfort. His muscles weren't even functional, yet they ached? How was that even possible?

More importantly: why was he in Nadja's cabin?

He sits up shakily and looks around with uncertainty.]

[Nadja and Laszlo had moved Steve's body from the library to the bathtub, though thankfully Nadja talked Laszlo out of taking off his clothing.

She happens to be asleep at the moment, but is awoken by the call of her inmate and she gives a groan, pushing open the door to her coffin]

Anita is on her own. She figured that out pretty quick. Not a lot of response on her radio, the longest being a brief, unrecognizable person giving her a direction. At least there was that.

She's been on enough hunting trips, both of the normal and monsters variety, to have outdoors survival skills. And the knowledge that she's way under prepared, and in serious danger, just from the elements. Her only saving grace is that she has her guns, because she doesn't go anywhere unarmed. Ever.

She took some time breaking a branch, for a walking stick, and possible blunt object. She would have shaved it into a spike, but she didn't think she had enough daylight to burn for that. So a walking stick in her left hand, and a gun in her right, she walks.

She's definitely not going to make it before sunset. And that makes her even more tense.

Still with the blood of her poor desiccated husband under her long fingernails, Nadja stalks her new prey.

She's no longer a vampire - no memory of it, either - but that hardly stops her animal instinct from wanting to feed. She tracks Anita, though she doesn't know who's on the other end of these footprints, and finally gets within hearing range.

Where she sends out a cry - Aieaieaieaieaie! - to alert Anita and begin the chase.

There was little time, after she woke up. She knew it, could feel it. The unravelling beginning. Understanding dawned, and she knew what was coming.

Which meant she had one last task to perform.

Walking was difficult at first, as she made her way to Nadja. She didn't know if she could trust the vampire, but it didn't matter. She was the best choice, the most likely to survive. And, just perhaps, she could rely on a trans-universal sense of sisterhood. She held the letters tightly, hand across her stomach, willing the process to stay, just for the few minutes she would need.

"Nadja?"

Nadja is sharpening her nails into hard points. If she is going to die today, she is going to die taking out as many of these evil little fuckers as she can.

She is sitting on top of her closed-lid coffin, placed on the ground in a cell, miserably enough, and it's nothing like how she had one at home: it's an unfriendly brown box, barely big enough to house her and certainly not the luxurious stuffed cushion one back home. She hates it. But at least it's a place to store her ancestral soil and keep her sane instead of sleep deprived.

She glances up, already snarling to show her fangs, but calms down when it's someone who is one of the few who isn't repulsive to her.

"Oh. Sariss, correct? Please, come in."

She gestures, pathetically, to her 'home'.
